The more friends the merrier because of games like Diablo, where you get to fight their Nemesis, or they send you gifts and stuff. You only get a notification when a favourite friend signs in -if you want to, you can set it to everyone-, which is a most welcome feature -imagine having 1000 friends and getting a notification every time one of them signs in. The best thing about the Xbox One system is that friends don't hover.
